About National Pyjama Day
National Pyjama Day, brought to you by Early Childhood Ireland, is one of the most exciting dates in our members’ diaries each year and is eagerly anticipated by children, families, and settings alike.
Over 65,000 children at 1,300 settings across Ireland participate each year, raising funds to support important projects and charities that support children.
National Pyjama Day has always been more than just cosy pjs and having fun – at its heart, it’s really about children helping children.
Who your National Pyjama Day donations will support
This year, we are proud to support LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, caring for the child, supporting the family.
LauraLynn’s mission is to provide a Community of Care that delivers evidence-based, personalised services to children with palliative care needs, complex care needs and complex disabilities, while also providing family support services and a home to residents where quality-of-life is paramount.
Funds raised this year will continue to support our member project, Eco-Emotions.
We are excited to launch a new partnership with Biodiversity in Schools, Ireland’s leading biodiversity education organisation, bringing expert voices into everyday practice through videos, outdoor experiences, and accessible downloadable resources for members, educators and families.
We will also develop a series of immersive workshops in nature. You will find details of this valuable initiative here.
Why take part in National Pyjama Day?
National Pyjama Day is a unique occasion that celebrates ‘Children helping children and having fun’. All over the country, children and staff don their favourite PJs and take part in storytelling, pillow fights, bear hunts, PJ picnics, and many more fun activities during the day. Importantly, these activities are also an opportunity for settings to highlight the play-based, child-centred Early Years curriculum which underpins practice and nurtures children at this vital time in their young lives.
