About National Pyjama Day
Over 65,000 children at 1,300 settings across Ireland participate in National Pyjama Day each year.
National Pyjama Day is one of the most exciting dates in our members’ diaries each year and is eagerly anticipated by children, families, and settings alike.
National Pyjama Day is all about children helping children and having fun and this year, those who get sponsored to wear their pyjamas into Early Years and School Age settings will support autism charity AsIAm and our new member project inspired by Reggio Children.

The funds raised for AsIAm will contribute to their Child and Family Support Programme. It will directly provide group-based support to autistic children and family members, whilst building the capacity of families to engage with support services and advocate for the critical support they require.
The Early Childhood Ireland Reggio Emilia member project aims to facilitate collaborations between educators and children as well as between educators and policy makers. It will support educators to reflect on their own practice, and promote their settings as ‘loving, inventive, creative, documentable places of learning, reflection, and research, where children, educators and families are strengthened’.

Why register for National Pyjama Day?
National Pyjama Day is a unique occasion that celebrates ‘Children helping children and having fun’. All over the country, children and staff don their favourite PJs and take part in storytelling, pillow fights, bear hunts, PJ picnics, and many more fun activities during the day. Importantly, these activities are also an opportunity for settings to highlight the play-based, child-centred Early Years curriculum which underpins practice and nurtures children at this vital time in their young lives.
