Early Years Educator Level 5; 40 hours/week required at Sunflowers in Lucan

Sunflowers Childcare is one of the leading full-service early years childcare facilities in Lucan; employing 15 staff and caring for 56 children Monday to Friday aged between 12 months and 12 years. We are currently recruiting for an early year’s educator to work in our kitchen and across all our rooms with children of all ages. Our opening hours are 7:30am-6:30pm; you will be expected to work 5 x 8hr shifts within these hours. Benefits include 24 days Annual Leave, plus 10 paid Bank Holidays. Paid tea and coffee breaks am & pm, free parking, free hot beverages and a free uniform is provided. Sunflowers supports staff in training for all mandatory courses and also encourages all employees to develop their skills, abilities and childcare career as far as they possibly can.

Start Date: ASAP

Hours: 40hrs/wk; 5 x 8 hour shifts, 7:30am-4:30pm/8:30am-5:30pm/9:30am-6:30pm (varies by week).

Salary: €13.00/hr starting pay

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Floater and Kitchen Assistant you will be a key member of the Sunflowers team, responsible for covering breaks in all rooms; helping all our early years educators deliver high quality care and learning opportunities for children, based on the needs and interests of those children. You will reheat pre-cooked and frozen meals at lunchtime and simple snack meals at tea time, and manage food deliveries stock rotation, shopping lists and storage; and the maintenance and cleanliness of the kitchen.

Some of your duties will be:

· Covering for colleagues whilst on annual leave; rest and lunch breaks

· Preparing and serving food for the children in the service

· Maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen

· Supporting the children’s play, and consequently their learning and development

· Covering nappy changes, helping at meal times and ensuring children are ready for nap times.

· Ensuring health, safety and well-being of the children

· Promoting positive relationships with parents, children and colleagues

· Maintaining professionalism at all times

The successful candidate must have:

· Comfortable working in a kitchen as well as caring for children

· Qualification in Early Childhood Care and Education (QQI level 5)

· Previous experience working in a busy childcare setting desirable.

· Fluency in both spoken and written English.

· Experience of and desire to be a team player.

· Flexibility, self-motivation, initiative and drive.

· Basic Food Hygiene and HACCP qualification desirable.
