EYES Update 3 December 2019

Early Childhood Ireland’s Early Years Employer Service (EYES) can be contacted Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, by phone on (01) 405 7103 or by email on eyes@earlychildhoodireland.ie. The EYES team is here to help with a range of issues related to the running of an early years and school aged service.  If you have a query outside of these hours, please send us an email and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

National Childcare Scheme: Attendance Returns

In line with Tusla requirements, you must maintain daily attendance records for each child but it is not required to log this information on the Early Years Hive. However, the NCS also requires these, and they form the basis for the weekly reporting returns on the Hive. We speak a little more about the attendance trackers further in this update.

A return in this case refers to the weekly report you have to submit for each NCS registered child in your service. Returns go live on Sundays and must be completed by the following Wednesday at 23:30. You can submit returns on the Early Years Hive in the Returns Section.

Please note, that you must report on any major issues pertaining to attendance, such as absence, under attendance and departures. If you do not submit these returns your subsidies may be suspended until the return is submitted.

National Childcare Scheme: Attendance Tracker Tools

Following on from the above, we would like to draw your attention to the recent communications on PIP regarding the National Childcare Scheme Attendance Tracker Tools. These Attendance Trackers have now been made available in both a 5-day version and a 7-day version. Helpfully, the NCS has also published an Attendance Tracker User Guide, to explain these trackers to you, and how they can be used in your service.

The NCS has advised that these attendance trackers are not compulsory to use but can be helpful to your service. We would suggest trying out the attendance tracker, spending some time getting used to it and using it in your rooms to track attendance. As always, the EYES team will be happy to answer any queries or take any feedback on your implementation of these.

Tusla Re-Registration: CRO certificates and registration

Many of our members have been inquiring about the CRO requirements for re-registration. To register your business name, or to get a copy of your registration certificate, please head to the CRO website, or the CRO’s CORE system. You can also search for your business or company names here.
