As per the recent press release from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY), public health measures for the sector will be removed as of Monday, 28 February 2022.

In January 2022, Eurochild released a number of reports containing recommendations for the design and implementation of the Child Guarantee National Action Plans in six countries, including Ireland. The European Child Guarantee is an initiative that guarantees children in need access to key services to prevent and combat poverty and social exclusion. It focuses on access to free healthcare, early childhood education and care, education, among other measures.
Reviewing the Government’s latest annual report for ‘Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures’, the national policy framework for children and young people. The Minister Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth recently published the sixth and final Annual Report for the ‘Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures’ framework.

In the first month of 2022, this Policy Brief looks back at some of the major developments for the Early Learning and School Age Care sector over the past year. Our Policy, Advocacy and Campaigning team engaged with various stakeholders and advocated on behalf of our sector for these welcome advancements.
Early Childhood Ireland, welcomed the publication of two Government reports which focus on the overall quality and benefit to early years and school age children but warn that if their recommendation are to be achieved, continuing year-on-year investment will be vital.
