3. Early Childhood Ireland Educator of the Year Award

Information and Criteria
This annual award sponsored by WESCO celebrates the exceptional contributions of individuals whose work has had a significant and positive impact on children, families, colleagues, and their community. The award will recognise and acknowledge an educator that goes beyond the expectations of daily practice. It will acknowledge an educator who advocates, leads change and creates wonderful experiences for children, families, colleagues and community.

 

Consent
Early Childhood Ireland will be exhibiting the winners of this award on our website and these stories may also be used in our research, training, and publications. Therefore, we need to have permission from children, parents and staff appearing in any photographs submitted.

How to apply
Using the nomination form, we would like you to nominate an educator and tell us why you think they should receive the Early Childhood Ireland Educator of the Year Award using the following criteria headings:

  • How the educator connects and tunes into children’s needs and interests (30 marks)
  • How they motivate and have an impact on their colleagues and the community (30 marks)
  • How their practice supports the needs of all children and their families (20 marks)
  • How they are leaders of change (20 marks)

Nominations/applications will not be accepted until we receive the necessary consent forms and the consent submission form. If we receive an application without consent forms and/or completed consent submission form, we will delete the application from our system and ask the sender to re-submit with relevant consent forms/consent submission form.  At the end of the award judging process, all unsuccessful applications/nominations will be deleted from our system.

 

Who can be nominated
The nominee may work in a direct role with children, or in a managerial role, or a combination of both, in a setting that is a member of Early Childhood Ireland.

 

Who can nominate
Nominations can be made by peers, colleagues, educators, parents, Boards of Management and Management Committees. Any ECI member can nominate another ECI member.

Recognising Excellence
The prize for the winner of this prestigious award will be presented at the Early Childhood Ireland Awards night in April 2019. Along with formal certificate of recognition, a monetary prize will be presented to the winning educator, to recognise their achievement.

 

Timeline of the Award Process

28 February 2019 Nominations closed
24 March 2019 Shortlist Nominees will be contacted
12 April 2019 Winner will be announced at the National Awards Evening

The winner of this Award will be profiled across National and Regional media in addition to Early Childhood Ireland’s magazine, website and social media.
