We welcome Paul Gilligan as our new Chairperson

October 22, 2019

We are happy to announce that Paul Gilligan has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Early Childhood Ireland Board. Paul Gilligan is a clinical psychologist and Chief Executive of St. Patrick’s Mental Health Services, the largest independent provider of mental health care in Ireland. He is also an internationally recognized children’s rights and child protection advocate and provides consultancy services to a number of child protection organisations in Ireland and Europe.

Before taking up his current post with St. Patrick’s, he was Chief Executive of the ISPCC. He is the author of “Keeping Your Child Safe” and “Raising Emotionally Healthy Children” and is a regular contributor to T.V., radio and print media. He is a Fellow of the Psychological Society of Ireland and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Trinity College Dublin. We look forward to working with Paul during what will be a critical time in the development of our sector.

Jillian van Turnhout, as most of our members will know, has been Chair of our Board for the last six years and provided great leadership to Early Childhood Ireland’s strategic and operational development. Jillian will remain on the Board until the next AGM in April 2020.
