TUSLA Consultative Forum

March 10, 2016

In November 2015, TUSLA formed an ‘Early Years Inspectorate Consultative Forum’. It provides an opportunity for relevant representatives and stakeholders to contribute to the on-going reform and development of the Early Years Inspectorate.

The Consultative Forum aims to provide advice, as appropriate, to support the functions of the Early Years Inspectorate, to strengthen inter-agency relationships, to share knowledge, and to offer advice on the strategic direction of the Inspectorate.

The membership of the Early Years Inspectorate Consultative Forum includes the Chairperson National Manager Early Years Inspectorate (as Chairperson), National Manager Quality Assurance, DCYA representative and representatives from groups including, but not limited to: National Voluntary Childcare Organisations (5 members), Childcare Committees Ireland (1), the Association of Childcare Professionals (1), PLÉ Network (Early Education and Care) (1), National Disability Authority(1), a Tusla representative from a funded Early Years Service and a parent representative.

To date the Forum has met three times. At the last meeting, on February 15, the Forum heard a presentation about the ongoing work on the development of a Judgement Framework for the Pre-School Regulations. Part of that process includes consultation with operators about the current Inspection Process. All operators received a link to an online survey which closed on March 7, 2016. We know that hundreds of members took the opportunity to complete this anonymous, online survey and provided feedback on their experience of the TUSLA Inspection Process.
