Supports for Members on the Road to GDPR Compliance

Supports for Members on the Road to GDPR Compliance

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect on 25th May 2018. While compliance with GDPR may seem like a daunting task, Early Childhood Ireland will provide a range of supports for members to help you on your journey to compliance.

These resources will be available from our website by the end of this week. We will send more information in an email once the resources are available.

1. GDPR Pack

Under GDPR, it is a requirement that all staff are aware of their obligations in relation to the processing of data. We have negotiated an excellent offer for members, to bring you a training programme and toolkit for €20. The value of this pack is €450.

  • Training Programme

This includes online training for two staff members. Once staff members have completed the training, a certificate can be downloaded and kept on file to demonstrate understanding of the regulations. This training programme is relevant for owners, managers, and all staff working in an early years service with a responsibility for handling data. The online course takes about 40 minutes and is sector-specific, and will inform you about your obligations.

  • Toolkit

The pack features a toolkit with all the tools you will need to implement the GDPR. These include a GDPR Readiness Questionnaire, a GAP Analysis Action Plan, a Data Protection Questionnaire and Risk Assessment Template, template for dealing with Subject Access Requests and Data Breaches, and all the necessary policies and procedures to be GDPR-compliant.

Purchase the GDPR Training Pack here.

2. Training Bundles

For services that have more than two members of staff, we are offering “training bundles” for €10. This is five training logins for the 40-minute training included with the GDPR Pack. This will allow each member of staff to download a certificate once they have completed the training. A key part of GDPR is the ability to demonstrate compliance, so by each staff member completing the training and downloading the certificate, the service will be able to demonstrate that staff members understand GDPR.

3. Template Policies and Procedures

Ensuring that you have policies and procedures in place for data protection is a key part of the journey to becoming fully compliant. We have worked with a GDPR consultancy firm to ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are available to our members. The following policies will be available later this week:

  • Personal Data Protection Policy
  • Employee Personal Data Protection Policy
  • Privacy Notice
  • Employee Privacy Notice
  • Data Retention Policy
  • Data Retention Schedule
  • Data Subject Request Form
  • Parental Consent Form
  • Parental Consent Withdrawal Form
  • Data Breach Response and Notification Procedure
  • Inventory of Processing Activities
  • Data Subject Access Request Procedure
  • Supplier Data Processing Agreement
  • Social Media Policy
  • CCTV Policy

Download the free template policies & procedures here (member login required).

4. E-Zine Articles

We have been running a GDPR series in our weekly ezine, featuring different articles relating to GDPR each week. A complete list of these articles can be found here (this page will continue to be updated with future articles).

5. Support Point
