Support Effective Transitions in Early Years: An Inspector’s Perspective on Practice and Policy

Read the keynote address by Harold Hislop from the ECI-INTO ‘Transitions’ seminar in June 2018.

On June 14th, ECI joined with the INTO for an historic seminar focusing on transitions from preschool to primary. Harold Hislop, Chief Inspector with the Department of Education and Skills, and Emer Smyth of the ESRI delivered keynote addresses during the seminar. These focused on research and findings as to how we can support children during the transition from preschool to primary school.

Harold has kindly provided the text of his speech to share with members and the wider sector. You can read the speech here. A video of the address can also be viewed on our Facebook page.
