Outdoors A Natural Place to Play is a children’s hardback story book on outdoor play.

Simple play activities are presented in image and rhyme. It is suitable for all ages from babies to school age as the rich images of children at play give the reader the choice to follow a story by image or text.

Babies can easily relate to the familiar images. For older children the real play moments captured throughout the seasons are engaging and offer creative ideas for play.

In a child centred way this book shows how nature’s bounty provides abundant opportunities for rich play, learning and fun outdoors. Children can relate to activities they see and possibly learn some new ones.

The images and questions throughout the book encourage chat and shared connection moments. The natural elements of wood, water, stones and greenery that form the backdrop of each page add a sense of beauty and relaxation to the reading experience.

The Author – Carol Duffy 

I have combined my passions for children’s outdoor play and photography to create this joyful book on playing outdoors. My career in early years care and education and my own life journey has taught me the beauty and joy in the simple things in life and how when given the time and opportunity children are masters at finding both. This book is a celebration of children’s outdoor play which I hope will encourage more children, families and early years educators to go outdoors to share the fun.
