Early Childhood Ireland’s – Our Learning Journal is designed to assist you in documenting children’s learning and collecting evidence of your curriculum in action. The opening introduction explains how this journal can be used.
Purpose of Resource
Our Learning Journal is a resource to capture children’s stories, achievements, and interests. It is your ‘curriculum in action’.
Use this resource collaboratively with children and families to share learning, achievements, and experiences. There are many ways to see, understand, and document children’s learning.
Documentation can include learning stories, anecdotes, photographs, comments/narratives, transcripts of conversations, webs, or drawings. Educators make choices about the most appropriate methods depending on the age of the child, preference, and resources.
If you would like to know more about how to create learning journey stories that might assist you in compiling this book, our blog ‘Documentation: trace of your professional life’ by Early Years Specialist, Catherine McHugh, takes a detailed look at how to use this book in your Early Years setting.
