Early Childhood Ireland is holding an exciting and long awaited conference on Outdoors: A Natural Place to Play. Nature is unfolding around us, the buds are bursting from the twigs, the colours are rising from the ground and hedgerows, our children need to be bursting from the indoors into natural spaces that connect them to the world of natural outdoor play and wonder. Herein lies our problem, too many of our children have no natural spaces to bound into.
This conference brings Jan White Outdoor Consultant, Author, Advocate, and founder of Landscapes for Early Childhood Network UK together with educators and landscape designers from the network to share with us their journey in providing quality natural play spaces for young children. In Ireland we have a great need to improve the design and provision of natural play spaces. From designing, to building, to landscaping, to planning, to playing we need an understanding of how young children play and the spaces and natural materials they need to play. Bringing policy makers, builders, architects, landscape designers, early years educators, lecturers, parents, and those interested in outdoor play spaces to partake in this conference is sowing the seed of improved provision.
Our pioneering Irish providers who have made the leap to natural outdoor play and learning will also showcase their practice. Come along join in the conversation, experience the power of children’s play and marvel at the power of natural spaces to foster the well being and development of our youngest children. So be it your passion, your purpose, or your business opportunity, join us there will be something for everyone.
