New online Garda Vetting process

We are delighted that over 1200 members are using our new online Garda vetting system so far. The new process saves you postage and time by enabling you to enter the applicant’s information directly onto our website, without the need for posting forms into the Early Childhood Ireland office.

At present Garda vetting applications are taking approximately 10 working days from when the applicant complete the link sent to them from the National Vetting Bureau, so please ensure you submit the vetting applications as soon as possible and that your applicant completes the link as soon as they receive it.

If you have your GNVB letter but haven’t yet emailed it to us for registration on the National Vetting portal, please email it to cdaly@earlychildhoodireland.ie. Every ELC and SAC setting must have its own unique GNVB number. The process is outlined here.

The new online Garda Vetting process:

  1. The owner/manager asks the applicant to complete the NVB1 Vetting Invitation form in full making sure to sign, date and tick the consent box in pen.
(There is a special Vetting Invitation form for Under 18’s and a parent consent form)
  2. The applicant provides the owner/manager with two forms of identification – photo identification and proof of address. A list of acceptable identification can be found here. Please keep the NVB1 and copies of ID in the employee file along with their completed vetting disclosure.

Then go to our website and log in. You may need to reset your password if this is the first time you have logged in to our new website.

Then go to Services- Garda vetting- Apply for Garda Vetting

Here you will see an online form that mirrors the NVB1 form which you then complete using the applicant’s information.

Once you have submitted the information on the online form, the applicant will receive a link to complete their address history within a few hours, or if you enter it at night the following morning, so please encourage them to check their email for this link. This link is valid for 30 days.

If you have any queries about the new Garda Vetting process, please see our website or phone 01405 7102.
