Tait House Community Enterprise is seeking to recruit a Childcare Manager to lead our long-established service, providing full daycare to children aged 6 months upwards, and year-round care to primary school-aged children. Our service caters to approximately 80 children in total and employs 20 childcare and support staff.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the service, with a strong emphasis on social inclusion, the delivery of a quality service and compliance with good practice and administrative requirements set out by funders and other stakeholders.
This is a full-time position and a salary in the region of €35,000 upwards is negotiable in line with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. We are committed to implementing the recently-introduced Employment Regulation Order for the Early Years sector.

4. Overall Purpose of the Role:
The Childcare Manager will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of our childcare services.
The Crèche caters for children aged 6 months to 5 years. We have 5 rooms including a baby, wobbler, toddler, pre-school and Montessori rooms. All staff are fully trained and engage in ongoing training and development so that they can offer the best service to the children in our care. We operate the Key Worker system whereby all children are assigned a full-time worker as their main carer. The programme of activities in each room is designed to meet the individual needs of each child. We adapt our curriculum to meet the interests and needs of the children. We are affiliated with Early Childhood Ireland who provide ongoing support and training for all of our staff.
Our Afterschool service caters for children from 4 years up to 10 years. We offer a collection service from a number of local schools. We offer the children a wide variety of learning experiences in the centre so as to help each child reach their full potential. Our aim is to support each child in their academic endeavours and to enable them to develop their social skills and to have fun. The programme of activities includes, supervised homework, a hot meal and a light snack, baking, arts and crafts, gardening, computers, outdoor play and sports, a variety of jigsaws, games, construction and dramatic play and time to relax and socialise with friends.
5. Specific Responsibilities:
Developing, delivering and managing the daily operations of our services to ensure a safe, developmentally appropriate environment for children, in line with all regulatory requirements
Responsibility for the delivery of all company policies, procedures, health and safety / risk assessments as stipulated in the Childcare Regulations
Managing the admissions process for children wishing to access the service
Developing and implementing future plans for the service, to ensure that capacity matches demand.
Implementation of our curriculum, demonstrating the links between early childcare education theory and practice in line with the National Curriculum Framework of Aistear and the National Quality Framework of Síolta
Management and supervision of childcare staff and support staff carrying out roles in administration and housekeeping
Compliance with requirements set out by funding and regulatory bodies, including Pobal, DCEDIY, Tusla, HSE, Limerick Childcare Committee and others that may arise.
Maintenance and development of relationships with other local organisations including community groups and schools, and participation in local networks as required.
Carry out any other tasks which may be assigned from time to time by the General Manager
6. Person Specification
This is an exciting and rewarding position and requires the following qualities and qualifications in the successful candidate:
A Level 7 major award (or higher) in Early Childhood Care and Education on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) is desirable.
A child centred communicator with an inclusive approach to childcare and a thorough knowledge of child development and its application to practice.
Leadership and organisational skills with excellent personal and inter-personal skills
A sound working knowledge of Síolta & Aistear
A comprehensive knowledge of Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) (Amendment) Regulations 2016 and (Registration of School Age Services) Regulations 2018
An understanding and knowledge of the National Quality Framework and of all aspects of operating a quality school aged environment required.
A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of child protection and the duties and responsibilities under Children First.
A comprehensive understanding of the administration and promotion of the DCEDIY childcare funding programmes
Ability to liaise with parents, guardians and families, and build parental partnership
Ability to line manage and supervise a staff team, supporting their continuous professional development
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, internally and externally with a range of stakeholders
Excellent IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and Pobal reporting systems
Minimum three years relevant experience.
Full driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
Tenure The contract is permanent, subject to the availability of continued funding.
Working Week The standard working week is: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m to 5.30 p.m.
This is a full-time contract of 39 hours, to be worked on an agreed roster within the hours outlined above.
Attendance at meetings and events after working hours form a part of this post and will be compensated for in accordance with the company’s policy on Time- in-Lieu.

Pension Tait House Community Enterprise will facilitate any staff members who wish to initiate or are already contributing to a Personal Retirement Savings Account (PRSA).
Retirement Age Tait House Community Enterprise staff members must retire on the last workingday prior to their 66th birthday. This is subject to any changes in Government Policy on the issue of Retirement Age. If funders for particular positions impose an earlier retirement age then that earlier retirement age will apply to that position.
Annual Leave Annual Leave for this position is 21 days per annum
