Overview of service

Murrintown Community Childcare /Tots to Teens opened in 2010 in a purpose-built building and provides Early Years and School age services. Many long-term staff are with us since the beginning. We are situated in the heart of Murrintown village with the Community Centre, community field, community playground and primary school facilities immediately adjacent and available to our service.                                                                  Early Years -Service: 12months -6 years: 8.30am -5.30pm

School aged Service, Junior Infants – 6th class: 1.50 pm-5.30 pm.

We are seeking a committed, innovative, and professional Manager to manage the community early years and school age service, to lead a dedicated team of childcare professionals and to continue the tradition of providing high quality education and childcare in a safe, respectful, inclusive environment.

Job Description.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

·       Deliver a high-quality early years’ service in line with Tusla regulations.

·       Ensure policies and procedures are in place and adhered.

·       Support staff development.

·       Oversee curriculum, programme planning and documentation

·       To work closely with the directors to ensure that good quality Early Years Care and School Age Care is delivered throughout the Early years and School age service.

·       To work with staff to provide a team approach to Early Years Care and Education and SAC of high standards.

·       To act as a positive role model to staff and to provide leadership and direction

·       Build positive relationships with parents and ensure all staff engage and communicate appropriately with parents.

·       Ensure financial operations and all POBAL/PIP/HIVE interactions are managed.

·       To have responsibility for the overall financial procedures of the Childcare centre, matching income to expenditure and reporting to the Board.

·       Maintain Health & Safety standards of the service, including infection control policies and procedures.

·       Liaise with Tusla the Child & Family Agency, PHN’s, Environmental Health Officers, Pobal, County Childcare Committees and other organisations.

·       To maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all aspects of Murrintown Community Childcare.

·       To act as the Designated Child Protection Liaison Person in line with Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children.

·       To carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Directors from time to time.

 

Personal Specifications

·       Minimum qualification at QQI Level 7 in Early Childhood Care & Education or equivalent discipline is essential.

·       QQI Level 8 in Early Childhood Care & Education is desirable.

·       Previous experience in a leadership role in an early years’ education setting is essential.

·       Experience in managing a similar service is desirable

·       Good communication and relating skills with children, staff, parents, guardians, Board of Directors, community, all related services, and personnel.

·       Empathy, warmth, and responsiveness to needs of children.

·       Ability to motivate others and lead by example

·       Ability to maintain confidentiality.

·       Ability to work as part of a team under self-direction and to delegate effectively

·        Good time and management skills.

·       A comprehensive knowledge of the Childcare Act 1991 (Early Years Services) (Amendment) Regulations 2016 and (Registration of School Age Services) Regulations 2018.

·       A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Child protection, duties, and responsibilities under Children First.

·       A thorough understanding of the administration and promotion of the DCEDIY Childcare funding programmes.

·       A good working knowledge of Siolta and Aistear.

·       An understanding of and knowledge of the National Quality Framework and of all aspects of operating a quality school aged environment.

·       First Aid training and legal requirements relating to childcare service.
