Applications are invited for a Relief/ Part-Time play assistant in a recently established pre-school, providing pre-school and afterschool services in a West Mayo village. This is an exciting role and an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a small, developing team that is dedicated to providing high quality care and education. We follow a play-based curriculum which is linked to Aistear and Siolta. Our child centred practice allows the children to follow their interests and we facilitate their learning and development by designing activities based on the children’s emerging interests. We advocate for all weather play, and appreciate the value of outdoor play, therefore children are encouraged to explore outside throughout the year.

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated person, with a fun-loving attitude, common sense, and a genuine commitment to early years education.

Requirements: ·
Minimum QQI Level 5 in Early Years Care and Education
2 references.
Previous experience preferred or newly qualified with an ambition to progress further in this industry. We encourage participation in all areas of the early years setting.

The successful candidate should have the following skills: ·
A strong work ethic who is a team player but also able to work on own initiative when required. · Reliable and professional. ·
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – fluency in both spoken and written English ·
The ability to carry out various kinds of observations and document accordingly. ·
Flexible mindset with an ability to reflect on their pedagogical practice

Hours: Flexible TBC, 38 weeks per year
