Duties and Responsibilities
 To administer and manage the service in line with policies and procedures.
 Maintain all records as required by Pobal and the HSE and other relevant organisations.
 Manage and oversee the service, and day-to-day supervision of childcare workers.
 Liaise with room leaders regarding each child’s observation and assessment
 Encourage and facilitate training and good practice by liaising with relevant agencies e.g. Tusla, County Childcare Committee, and National Childcare organisations.
 Adopt a professional outlook at all times to childcare issues and present a positive approach to development in respect of:
 New legislation
 Measures taken to further protect children
 Staff supervision, training and development
 Partnership with and participation of parents/carers
 Evaluation and development of services
 Attend staff meetings and provide written reports
 Co-ordinate and lead staff meetings
 Setting up working rosters in conjunction with staff.
 Liaise with parents on a regular basis regarding the ongoing progress and development of their children
 To set simple clear limits for children, which are consistently followed and encourage a positive approach to discipline
 Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by the owner.

Personal Specification
 Childcare 7/8 qualification.
 Leader role experience
 Ability to lead a team
 Kindness, warmth, and responsiveness to the needs of children
 Good Communication and Relating Skills with children, staff, and parents
 Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations
 Complete Garda Vetting
 Ability to delegate effectively
 First aid skills
 Appreciation of the need for strict confidentiality
 Honesty and reliability
 Good time keeping.
