Community Early Learning Centre

Cairde Beag is seeking to recruit a manager for our community childcare services in Kilrush and
Kilkee, Co. Clare for an initial one-year period. The manager will be responsible for the provision of
high-quality childcare services to the community, based on best practice. The successful candidate
will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the childcare centres, including the management
of an experienced staff team, delivery of childcare schemes and the further development of best
practice childcare services. The management and administration of the service, and the
employment of staff is overseen and supported by Clare Local Development Company.

Responsibilities and Duties:
• Developing, delivering and managing the daily operations of the Kilrush and Kilkee centres to
ensure a safe, developmentally appropriate environment for children, in line with all
regulatory requirements
• In depth knowledge of children’s age and stage appropriate holistic needs and development
• Dedicated to raising standards in early learning and care, and rolling out best practice to a
high level
• Ability to implement the Cairde Beag curriculum, demonstrating the links between early
childcare education theory and practice in line with the National Curriculum Framework of
Aistear and the National Quality Framework of Síolta
• Responsibility for the delivery of all company policies, procedures, health and safety / risk
assessments as stipulated in the Childcare Regulations
• Effective people and business management skills with the confidence and skills to cover all
business development aspects of the role
• Excellent knowledge of and ability to implement child protection policies in line with
Children First requirements and guidelines
• Lead on the development and evaluation of programmes and activities conducive to
culturally sensitive learning environments

Qualifications and Skills:
Candidates must have the following;
• A minimum of FETAC / QQI Level 8 in Early Childhood Care and Education or equivalent
• Management or supervisory experience in the childcare sector (minimum of 2 years)
• A strong passion for the needs and development of the individual child
• Full EU driver’s licence and access to a vehicle

Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:
• Ability to liaise with parents, guardians and families, and build parental partnership
• Ability to line manage and supervise a staff team, supporting their continuous professional
and personal development
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, internally and externally with a range
of stakeholders
• Ability to manage and project occupancy levels
• Ability to meet targets and deadlines, utilise HIVE system, undertake key administration
tasks and manage finances within an allocated budget
• Meet all compliance and regulatory requirements set down by Tusla, Pobal, DCEDIY and
other bodies
