Governance: Early Childhood Ireland’s Audit & Risk Committee

Governance: Early Childhood Ireland’s Audit & Risk Committee
Governance

Our Audit & Risk Committee (ARC) is a standing committee of the organisation. It reports into the Board, and forms an important part of our governance, helping to ensure good stewardship of Early Childhood Ireland’s financial resources and monitoring of financial and other relevant risks. Its remit is:

  • Effective review and monitoring of financial risks;
  • Reliable management and financial reporting;
  • Compliance with laws and regulations; and
  • Maintenance of an effective and efficient audit.

The ARC is required to meet at least three times a year (in 2021 it met five times) and updates and minutes from its meetings are made available to the Board. The committee is comprised of not less than three members including two Directors of the Early Childhood Ireland Board and one external member, all with relevant financial and other experience, and all working in a voluntary/unpaid capacity on behalf of the organisation.  (We are currently recruiting a new external member for the committee.)

You can find out more about our governance and download previous annual reports on the Early Childhood Ireland website.
