Garda Vetting Update – 9 April 2019

April 9, 2019

Renewing your Garda vetting every three years

The Early Years Quality and Regulatory Framework and best practice recommends that you have your employees re-vetted every three years. The re-vetting process is the same as the Garda vetting process and is a free service for all Early Childhood Ireland members.

International Students

Do international students need to be Garda vetted?

Yes, if you have international students (aged over 16 years) coming to your early childhood service in Ireland, they will need to be vetted by the Irish National Vetting Bureau through you, the registered childcare provider, using the usual procedure with Early Childhood Ireland.

You will need to allow time to have their vetting organised before they can come into your service i.e. start the process at least 8 – 12 weeks beforehand.

The international student will also need to send you (the owner/manager)  a copy of their Police Clearance Certification. This will show all international addresses that they have lived at for longer than 6 months (since the age of 18 years).

The student also needs to send the vetting invitation form with the original signature to you, along with a copy of the identification – both photo and address, by post, so that you can complete the Identification Verification Form. When you have both forms completed you send then in to us at Early Childhood Ireland, Hainault House, Belgard Square South, Tallaght, D24 RFV0.

If they are under 18 then they need to send the forms below.

Parent Consent – International Students Under 18

Parents or guardians of 16-18 year olds are required to complete the Parent Guardian Consent Form

The parent or guardian must supply their own email address and phone number on the Vetting Invitation NVB1 Form and not the child’s email address. The Under 18s Vetting Invitation Form makes this clear
