Garda Vetting Process during Covid-19

Garda vetting applications are being processed by email during this crisis. Please send 2 forms for each vetting applicant – the Vetting Invitation and an Identification Verification form.

1. The owner/manager asks the potential/current employee to fill out the Vetting Invitation.

This can be filled out online in pdf form (google chrome, Microsoft edge, and internet explorer web browsers support this), or the employee can fill it out in pen and take a photo of it.

2. Once the form is completed and saved by the applicant, they then email it to the manager of the early childhood setting, along with a photo of their photo identification and a photo of proof of address. A list of acceptable identification is listed in the table below.

Types of documents that can be used to verify both photo id and address:

 • Irish Driving Licence (new credit card statement)
• Employment ID card issued by employer (name, address and photo)

• Irish Driving Licence or learner permit (new credit card format)

• Irish Medical Card (with photograph)

• Passport

• Irish certificate of naturalisation

• Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) card

• National Identity Card for EU/EEA/Swiss citizens

• National age card issued by An Garda Siochana

• Employment ID card issued by employer (name and photograph)

• Membership cards from a Union or Trade, Professional body or Educational Institution” (with photo)

 

• Driving licence

 
• P60, P45 or Payslip (with home address)

 • Bank/Building Society/Credit Union statement

• Utility bill e.g. gas, electricity, television,
broadband (must not be less than 6 months old. Printed online bills are acceptable.
Mobile phone bills are not acceptable)

• Bank / Building Society / Credit Card Statement

• Letter from employer (within last two years): Confirming name and address

• Correspondence from any of the following:

o an educational institution

o an insurance company regarding an active policy

o a bank / credit union or government body or state agency

 

3. The owner manager then fills out the Identification Verification form once they have verified the identification from the applicant.

4. Then the owner/ manager emails us the Vetting Invitation and the Identification form (not the ID itself!) for the Garda vetting applicant to: [email protected]

5. The Garda vetting applicant will then receive a link via email from the National Vetting Bureau to complete their application online.

The owner manager of the early years setting will also receive a notification from Early Childhood Ireland that says the applicant has been emailed a link from the National Vetting Bureau. The manager should check that the applicant has received the link and submitted their information to the NVB.

6. Once working conditions are back to normal we would ask that the forms be posted to us as we need the original signatures of the applicant on the Vetting Invitation, and the owner/manager’s signature on the Identification Verification form.
