Date: Wednesday 24 June 2020

Time: 10am

Wendy Lee, Director of the Educational Leadership Project (Ltd)

Wendy Lee is the director of the Educational Leadership Project in New Zealand (https://www.elp.co.nz) and an internationally renowned author and speaker on early childhood education. Over the past 50 years, her career has focused on building strong, reflective, and robust learning communities through her roles as teacher, unionist, lecturer, community development worker, city councillor, manager, professional development facilitator and researcher. Today, as director of the Educational Leadership Project Ltd she and her team provide training and advice to ECE centres throughout New Zealand and in a wide range of other countries.

Over the past 20 years, she has had the privilege of collaborating with Professor Margaret Carr on a number of ECE research projects, including co-directing the National Early Childhood Assessment and Learning Exemplar Project. This produced the Kei Tua o te Pae books on assessment for improving learning in the NZ ECE sector. As the influence of research in the area of Learning Stories and Assessment in New Zealand grows and extends more into ECE practice, Wendy has been increasingly requested to present its influence to a wider international audience including teachers in Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany, Japan, Belgium, the USA, Kazakhstan, Canada, Australia and China.

Carol Duffy, Early Childhood Ireland

Carol Duffy (MA in Early Years Education) is an Early Childhood Specialist with Early Childhood Ireland. She has worked in the sector for over thirty-five years, as an early year’s educator, lecturer, and Síolta/Aistear mentor. She is passionate about young children’s access to nature and outdoor play. Her research presented at many national and international conferences and seminars demonstrates the benefits of play in natural spaces for young children. She is a member of the UK Landscapes for Early Childhood Network.

Declan Hughes, The Grey Matters Network

Declan Hughes is Chairman of the ISPCC and has owned and run services companies for more than 20 years – some great successes and some painful failures! Most recently he co-founded The Grey Matters Network – the largest collection of experienced business people in Ireland who offer consultancy services across a broad range of corporates and SMEs. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, The Grey Matters Network has been providing advice and guidance to a range of SMEs on navigating the uncertain environment we find ourselves in and on how best to prepare for the post Covid recovery.

Declan will share some business insights to assist you as you move to reopen and guide you through key terms and principles for working on your business.
