Early Childhood Ireland prize for academic excellence at Dublin Institute of Technology

The Certificate in Pre-School Care commenced in 1977, at Cathal Brugha Street College of Catering, Dublin. This was the first programme of its kind in Ireland, and since then the Dublin Institute of Technology has led the field in the delivery of part-time and full-time Early Childhood Education programmes. Today, DIT offers a three year Level 8 BA (Hons.) in Early Childhood Education.

Students complete a range of theory and professional practice modules, as well as a supervised practice placement on each of the three years in the programme.

For the academic year 2016-2017, Early Childhood Ireland has once again sponsored the prize for academic excellence to the student who achieved the highest marks in Final Year.  The recipient is Mr. Philipp Herrmann.  At a ceremony in DIT Grangegorman on Monday 16th April, Ms. Rita Melia, Head of Training and Practice at ECI presented an engraved clock to Philipp, in the company of his family, tutors and lecturers.  In his opening remarks, the Head of Department of Social Sciences, Dr. Kevin Lalor, congratulated all prize winners, and noted their impressive achievements were the result of years of serious application to their studies, and the constant support of family and friends.
