Early Childhood Ireland Awards 2015

April 28, 2015

At this year’s awards ceremony our members turned out in their numbers, with over 250 people in attendance.  The Cusack stand in Croke Park swelled with a glamorous and buoyant crowd, ready to enjoy their successes.

Professor Nóirín Hayes gave the key note address, speaking of her admiration of the wonderful work being done by the members of Early Childhood Ireland.  She also highlighted their role in guiding the sector to better and best practice, while reminding us how much there is to learn from practice. Professor Hayes urged that use of the new Aistear Siolta Practice Guide needed to start with practice.

The awards were then presented by Professor Hayes to the recipients from the past year in the categories of Innovation, Síolta Validation and Learning Stories.  In particular we would like to congratulate the overall winners, who speak about the submissions for which they won their awards below:

Overall Innovation Award Winner

Cottage Kids

(Innovation in Education Through Play)

Overall Learning Story Winner

The Glen Outdoor School

(The search for Santa (Our Christmas Play))

All in all it was a night of celebration, fun, laughter and plenty of dancing.  We are already looking forward to next year!!
