Services participating in the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) funding scheme are required to “Adhere to the Principles of Síolta”.

This means that they should be familiar with the principles of Síolta and be able to demonstrate how they put them into practice.

Adhering to the Principles of Síolta

Adhering to the principles involves:

Being familiar with them – studying and discussing them with the staff team and parents

Putting them into everyday practice – and supporting each other in doing this

Being able to describe the principles in practice – documenting a few examples is helpful

We are able to show these principles in action when we can identify children’s strengths and interests and provide environments and activities that support them.

We demonstrate cooperation, communication and mutual respect when we consult with parents about their children’s interests, learning and well being.
