Reggio Children International Study Group

As the Reggio International Network Partner for Ireland, Early Childhood Ireland is delighted to announce the next  Reggio Children International Study Group, taking place in Reggio Emilia, Italy.

The details are as follows:

Reggio Children’s International Study Groups

More than 200 study groups with participants from over 107 different Countries (totalling almost 4000 every year) have been organized.

Last year the International Study Group witnessed the participation of 360 people, from more than 25 different countries.

The International Study groups aim to provide a deeper knowledge of the Reggio Approach, through direct experience, strongly connected with the Infant Toddler Centres and Preschools of Reggio Emilia.

The diversified composition of the different Study Groups, provides a huge resource, from which to facilitate dialogue, the exchange of experiences and sharing between the participants, hailing from different countries and contexts.

 

The 2012 International Study Group

This study group will focus on the Reggio Emilia Approach to Education, which includes:

  • The identity and aims of Infant Toddler Centres and Preschools

  • The principles of the educational project

  • Essential elements for the operation of Infant Toddler Centres and Preschools

 

The weekly International Study group program will also involve the following:

  • Visits to the town of Reggio Emilia: the opportunity to view it from a social, cultural, political context

  • Encountering the town/community

  • Presentations by pedagogistas, atelieristas and teachers on the principles of the educational project of the Preschools and Infant-toddler Centres Istituzione of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia

  • Presentation and analysis of research projects coming out of the Preschools and Infant-toddler Centres

  • Visits to Preschools and Infant Toddler Centres, to the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre and to the Documentation and Educational Research Centre

  • Workshops

  • Discussions groups

  • Sharing experiences among the participants
