Early Childhood Ireland members engage in a variety of methods of documenting children’s learning. We aim to support practitioners in developing simple yet effective ways of documenting learning and sharing the wonder of children’s play and development.
The Learning Journal is a fantastic new resource which is a hardback A3 Journal designed to assist you in documenting children’s learning and collecting evidence of the curriculum in action. It can be used to bring the everyday practice in your service to life and it will make the children’s learning visible to all interested stakeholders e.g Parents, HSE Inspectors, Siolta validators, etc.
The Learning Journal consists of 45 pages which can be used back and front. It also contains an opening introduction explaining how the Learning Journal can be used, along with a sample learning story and a template demonstrating how to link the documentation to Aistear themes and goals.
As shown above the Learning Journal format can also be used for our Learning Stories competition. Please have a look through the winners of the Learning Stories Award 2012 to see examples of how this can be done.
The Learning Journals are currently being offered at an introductory offer:
-
€10 for members and
-
€12 for non-members
