Early Childhood Ireland and Dublin Zoo have launched the Spring Preschool Progamme for 2013.
The programme is aimed at 3 to 5 year olds and there are 2 types, on entitled ‘Winter Woolies’ and the other called ‘Farm-tastic Foods’.
The programmes are designed to help young children make the connection between their food, their clothes, the farm and nature.
Winter Woolies |
This programme helps children to understand the connections between the farm and the clothes they wear. It involves a walk and talk tour of the farm that allows them to connect their classroom learning to the real life animals they visit. |
Farm-tastic Foods |
This programme allows children to see first-hand how foods are produced in the farm, as they watch the cow being milked and help gather eggs and vegetables. An interactive discussion on these foods introduces them to basic nutritional principles in a fun way using games, songs, stories. |

The programmes will run from 4th February to the end of April 2013, Monday to Friday 10-11am or 11.30 to 12.30.

Irene Gunning CEO of Early Childhood Ireland said, “We were delighted to develop these new modules with the Zoo’s educational team. Making this connection between education and the world around us is key to developing young minds. It also gives us the edge in the fight against childhood obesity which starts with educating children about the food they eat and where it comes from.”
