Beep Beep Day is a road safety awareness day which is taking place on Friday 12th October. The day provides an opportunity to celebrate Irish Road Safety Week in preschools throughout the country.
The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has developed a resource pack for preschools that supports children aged 5 and under to practise basic road safety messages with road safety storybooks, songs, games and activities.
The Simon and Friends resource pack for preschools contains 4 story books that that focus on the following themes:
- Holding Hands
- Stopping
- Looking & Listening
- Setting a Good Example
The pack also includes a CD of stories and road safety songs, as well as a short road safety game. A separate Teachers Guide called ‘Hand-in-Hand’ is also provided – containing Contacts for providers, Games and activities to accompany the stories, Certificates for the children and Tips on how to practice the road safety messages in the four story books.
