Summer Camps

The points below provide all the relevant information relating to the hosting of holiday camps during the summer months and the insurance implications (if any) that this may have for a service.

 

Summer Camps

 

  • The Early Childhood Ireland Childcare Insurance policy automatically provides cover for summer/holiday camps.

  • There is no additional charge for summer/holiday camps where services are only providing a facility for the number of children normally catered for, and charged for within the annual premium.

  • Where services are providing camp activities for more than your usual number of children, then the following additional charges will apply:-

 

Number of Additional Children Charge
Additional 20 children €25 per week
Additional 40 children €50 per week
Additional 60 children €75 per week
Additional 80 children €100 per week
Any requests in excess of this should be referred to Early Childhood Ireland

 

  • If the holiday camp is being run from a separate premises the service will need to provide the address so this premises can be noted on the schedule of cover

  • All children should be pre-registered for the holiday camp and no children should be accepted on a “drop-in” basis

  • Whilst the children are at the premises the service must comply with the adult/child ratio for children of 6 years and under as detailed in legislation, and, for children over 6 years a ratio of 1 adult to 10 children must be adhered to

  • Cover is provided if the children are brought on an outing away from the premises provided the adult/child ratio for outings is adhered with i.e.

    • 1 adult to 3 children for children in the 1 to 4 year age bracket

    • 1 adult to 8 children for children in the 5 to 12 year age bracket
