Frequently asked Questions for Early Childhood Ireland’s Group Insurance Scheme 2012 

 

When was the insurance for 2012 due for renewal?

The insurance for 2012 was due for renewal on 1st January 2012 but due to the transition of systems during this time of merger Early Childhood Ireland has arranged for an extension of existing insurance cover until 27th January 2012.

 

When will I get my Insurance Documents?

All Insurance Documents will be emailed to you in the coming days. Should you not have received them by January 20th please call on 01-4630012 or email to ahearne@earlychildhoodireland.ie. Updates will be posted daily on our website so please check in with us.

 

What level of cover is provided under Personal Accident for children and employees?

The Personal Accident cover has been increased to a maximum of €30, 000 for children and employees. It is important to note that the cover is in place only when children are in care of the service, and when staff are engaged in the business of the service. Cover for 24/7 may be purchased as an extra

 

To whom do I make out the cheque and what is the postal address?

Cheques should be made out to Early Childhood Ireland and posted to Unit 4, Broomhill Business Complex, Broomhill Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24

 

Can I make a payment over the phone?

If you wish to pay over the phone please call Aisling on 01-4630012 or email her on ahearne@earlychildhoodireland.ie and she will get back to you to process your payment.

 

I have 3 childcare services- do all of my services need to be members of Early Childhood Ireland?

Yes all of your services must be members but there are reductions in the fee for the second and subsequent memberships. Please see Membership Information on www.earlychildhoodireland.ie

 

Can I purchase insurance for January-June only?

Members cannot purchase insurance for the period Jan-June only. However, a refund can be sought on the insurance should you wish to cancel it after June. Refunds are not available on Membership.

 

I wish to take out insurance cover on my Buildings – how do I estimate the amount I need to insure for in order to have sufficient cover in case of a claim?

We advise members to be careful of over estimating the value of their buildings as the value of all property has reduced due to the current economic climate. It is advisable to seek advice on the current value of your property to ensure that you are not overpaying for cover.

 

Can I operate the Parent & Toddler group on more than one day and at more than one venue?

Yes, the Parent & Toddler Group may be operated on more than one day and at more than one venue provided that all days of operation and all locations are notified to us in writing or by email to ahearne@earlychildhoodireland.ie

 

What is the maximum number of children covered under the insurance in a Sessional Service?

There is no limit to the number of children that may be catered for in a Sessional Service provided that the space and adult/child ratios are fully compliant with the requirements of Child Care (Pre-School Services) Regulations, 2006

 

How many sessional services can I operate under my Full Daycare Insurance cover?

Under your Full Daycare Insurance you may operate one sessional service (subject to compliance with the space and adult/child requirements of  the Child Care (Pre-School Services) Regulations, 2006. Cover for extra Sessional Services within Full Daycare is available at an extra fee of €199.00 per service.
